16 Days Activism-Collaborating to Combat Online Gender – based Violence

Civil Peace Service (CPS) Liberia Network is collaborating with national and global movements to spotlight and combat online gender-based violence during the 16 Days of Activism.

In observance of the 16 Days of Activism, the Network and its partners will run a digital campaign from November 15 to December 10, 2025. The campaign will feature coordinated messages, infographics, and short videos shared across social media. Each partner organization will lead daily awareness posts highlighting survivor-centered messages and digital safety tips, using unified hashtags to boost visibility.

These actions by partners and allies, according to the National Coordinator of CPS Liberia Network, Madam Decontee E. George, “are intended to amplify voices, foster dialogue, and inspire collective actions to make digital spaces safer and more inclusive for all.”

The Network has also organized Community-Led Field Actions, where partner organizations will integrate the 16 Days campaign into their ongoing projects by hosting local outreach events, dialogues, and community theater, addressing gender-based and digital violence. Partner organizations are expected to encourage grassroots engagement to bridge online activism with real-world transformation.

On November 25, 2025, the network and its partners will officially launch the “Evening of Action” at the YMCA of Liberia Conference Hall. During the launch of the event, several activities are being lined up, featuring opening remarks from representatives of the Civil Peace Network, the Ministry of Gender, and the United Nations.

A short documentary portraying the realities and impact of gender-based and digital violence in Liberia will be screened, followed by a panel discussion with experts, survivors/victims, and Activists discussing “Digital Safety and Women’s Rights in the Online Space.”

A joint declaration or the signing of a code of conduct committing organizations to safe, respectful, and inclusive digital practices will take place. This will be followed by an art gallery or a participatory “vision board” showcasing hopes for a world free from violence against women.

With the holding of these activities, CPS and partners expect increased public and institutional awareness of digital violence against women and girls, strengthened partnerships between civil society, government, and international actors. They also expect empowered youth and community activists leading sustained gender advocacy beyond the campaign period.

It is also expected that there will be expanded online visibility and engagement through unified messaging during the 16 Days campaign, and the adoption of a Joint Code of Conduct on digital safety and online respect among partner organizations.
