July 10, 2025CoP Liberia: Highlighting Training Approaches for Broader Application in Liberia
Bread for the World (BftW) concluded training for members of the Civil Peace Service, Community of Practice (CoP) team in Liberia in May 2025. The training provided knowledge and skills to members of the CoP Liberia team, built their capacities, and prepared participants to make presentations in preparation for facilitation during training.

CPS programs in Liberia have received capacity-building and mentoring support from the Bread for the World Support Team in Berlin. The support has strengthened the capacity and competencies of CPS Liberian Trainers in key areas, such as Do No Harm, Mediation, Open Space, and Reflecting on Peace Practices (RPP) approaches, which are essential for designing and managing conflict-sensitive programs.
Bread for the World, through its Support Team, conducted introductory training for the staff of Civil Peace Service partner organizations, followed by practical exercises on the application of the new tool. Bread for the World also supported partner organizations in integrating new approaches into project planning through training, and now the creation of a local pool of qualified trainers.
With the creation of a local pool of trainers in Liberia, Bread for the World has completed the training of members of the community of Practice.
With the capacities of the CoP Liberia Team now strengthened, the team is set to provide training and support to partners and communities across Liberia. A special presentation by the CoP team will be held held on July 16, 2025, displaying methodologies and their practical application within the local context. The team will strengthen partnerships to promote training, knowledge sharing, and replication across Liberia’s development and peacebuilding landscape.

Madam Decontee George is the Civil Peace Service Liberia Network Coordinator. She says the Network plans to build a strong and viable pool of professionals for the CoP Team in Liberia, and the Network is open to other professionals to increase the value of the CoP Liberia Team. This, she says, will help support peace and development efforts in Liberia.
With the team now strengthened and prepared to replicate the training to organizations across Liberia, a member of the team, Anthony Vankpanah, says the CoP has the relevant tool to work with, through knowledge transfer, which will help impact and enhance development and peace work being implemented by organizations across Liberia.
