The project team of the Sierra Leone Adult Education Association (SLADEA) together with Mr. Alseny Diallo, the BftW-CPS Seconded Personnel attached to the organisation, conducted series of trainings on the newly developed manuals and curricula for both old and new facilitators in SLADEA\u2019s branches in Makeni, Bombali District, Mile 91 in Tonkolili District and Freetown in the Western Area Urban District of the country. The activities were rolled out at the end of 2024 and early 2025, and aimed at enhancing the capabilities and competencies of existing Adult Literacy Facilitators and Skills Trainers of SLADEA\u2019s various Technical and vocational programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SLADEA has been promoting adult literacy and skills development for self-reliance since its inception in 1978. Since the organisation focuses on skills development through training of youths and adults, it developed curricula for various courses to ensure effective teaching and learning. These curricula are regularly updated to meet the changing trends and to capture emerging issues. The curricula development and updating is aimed at improving the educational system to ensure it is aligned with the learning goals and societal needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, experts were drawn from different places to develop additional five curricula for Soap making, Cosmetology, Gara-Tie-Dying, Ceramic and Pottery making, and Weaving. This was done to meet the training needs of the numerous would-be learners across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The success of the training was profoundly expressed by participants as they thanked SLADEA and Bread for the World for what most referred to as a laudable initiative to enhance their capacities to enable them to contribute meaningfully to community and national development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We will now refer to ourselves as professional trainers and facilitators.
