The Civil Peace Service (CPS) Liberia Network will join communities around the world on Monday, September 21, 2026, to commemorate the International Day of Peace under the United Nations theme, \u201cInvest in Peace: For Everyone, Everywhere, Every Day.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The celebration will take place at LOIC, Matadi, and beginning with a Peace Parade at 9:00 a.m. from Central Matadi to the LOIC Conference Hall, followed by the main program at 10:00 a.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year\u2019s celebration will focus on the importance of safe, inclusive and responsible digital spaces, particularly for women, girls and young people. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Network will promote the message:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PROTECT PEOPLE. PROTECT\u201c VOICES. PROMOTE RESPONSIBLE DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program will include a peace parade, keynote remarks, a panel discussion, youth and women\u2019s reflections, and media engagement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Expected guests and participants include representatives of the Government of Liberia, United Nations and development partners, civil society organizations, youth and women\u2019s groups, media, community and religious leaders, and CPS Network partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The President of the Press Union of Liberia, Mr. Julius Kanubah, has been invited as Guest Speaker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CPS Liberia Network calls on citizens to use digital platforms to promote peace, share accurate information, engage respectfully and support constructive dialogue, while rejecting misinformation, harassment and online abuse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The International Day of Peace, also officially known as World Peace Day, is a United Nations<\/a>-sanctioned holiday observed<\/a> annually on 21 September. It is dedicated to world peace<\/a>, and specifically the absence of war and violence, such as might be occasioned by a temporary ceasefire in a combat zone for humanitarian aid<\/a> access. The day was first established in 1981 and first observed in September 1982 and is kept by man.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
