{"id":5159,"date":"2020-08-27T13:37:24","date_gmt":"2020-08-27T13:37:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost\/PWA\/?p=5159"},"modified":"2023-12-06T19:03:17","modified_gmt":"2023-12-06T19:03:17","slug":"rdc-la-cbca-en-premiere-ligne-dans-la-riposte-contre-la-covid19-et-adaptation-du-travail-de-paix-au-contexte-de-crise-sanitaire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/peaceworkafrica.net\/en\/rdc-la-cbca-en-premiere-ligne-dans-la-riposte-contre-la-covid19-et-adaptation-du-travail-de-paix-au-contexte-de-crise-sanitaire\/","title":{"rendered":"DRC: CBCA on the front line in the response to covid19 and adaptation of peace work to the context of the health crisis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Responding to the\nmobilization of the response, the Baptist Community in the Center of Africa,\nthrough the Justice, Peace and Safeguarding of Creation Commission (JPSC) joined\nits efforts to those of the national and international community in the fight\nagainst the pandemic, through a campaign. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This consists of\non the one hand to sensitize the community on the promotion of peace and\nhuman rights in times of Covid-19. &nbsp;Other\npart the campaign aimed to protect and provide\nassistance for the benefit of the community with regard to the distribution of\nprotective equipment, drinking water and food at certain\nvulnerable categories. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This operation was carried out by a team from the Task Force set up by the ecclesiastical authorities of the CBCA, based on a multidisciplinary approach:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>La consolidation de la paix et la sensibilisation \u00e0 la promotion et au respect des droits humains en p\u00e9riode de la Covid-19<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Les\nacteurs de paix de la JPSC sur le terrain ont aid\u00e9 les populations \u00e0 briser le\ncercle vicieux des conflits violents. Malheureusement, il est observ\u00e9 des cas\nde violations flagrantes des Droits de l&rsquo;Homme, justifi\u00e9es par des mesures\nd&rsquo;urgence pour lutter contre la propagation du virus. Ces violations sont\ncommises par quelques membres des forces de l&rsquo;ordre (police). Cette situation\nest r\u00e9v\u00e9latrice d\u2019un d\u00e9ficit d\u2019\u00e9ducation aux Droits Humains dans les rangs de\nforces de l&rsquo;ordre, particuli\u00e8rement en p\u00e9riode de crise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The\npeace actions have been adapted so that they can respond to the need\nto build peace; despite this particular Covid-19 situation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;Ces acteurs de paix de la JPSC ont jou\u00e9 un\nr\u00f4le vital:&nbsp; Par des messages de paix et\nd\u2019espoir pour cette population d\u00e9sesp\u00e9r\u00e9e, abandonn\u00e9e \u00e0 son triste sort par\nl\u2019Etat qui l\u2019a confin\u00e9 et qui ne sait l\u2019assister seulement pour r\u00e9pondre aux\nbesoins de premi\u00e8re n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 (Eau, \u00e9lectricit\u00e9, nourritures, \u2026). Ensuite, par\nla mediation dans les cas des conflits observ\u00e9s dans les familles et dans la\ncommunaut\u00e9. Aussi, la JPSC a jou\u00e9 le role de l\u2019accompagnateurs juridiques et\njudiciaires&nbsp;; \u00e0 titre gratuit, pour les cas d\u2019interpellations abusives\nlanc\u00e9es par les services de police et de renseignement contre les personnes.\nEnfin,&nbsp;la commision est intervenue dans differentes \u00e9missions\nradiodiffus\u00e9es sur le respect des mesures barri\u00e8res contre la Covid-19 et les\ndroits humains \u00e0 observer pendant la p\u00e9riode de la Covid-19. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Furthermore, the Commission for Justice, Peace and Safeguarding\nla Cr\u00e9ation produced an awareness leaflet and more than 600 copies were\ndistributed to members of the Congolese National Police and to\nstate offices to make them aware of respect for human rights\nduring the response to Covid-19. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In\napart from actions for the consolidation of peace and the promotion of rights\nhuman beings, the CBCA campaign also focused on the aspects\nfollowing: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>La sensibilisation au respect des mesures barri\u00e8res<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/peaceworkafrica.net\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/photo-2-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5161\" width=\"382\" height=\"254\" srcset=\"https:\/\/peaceworkafrica.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/photo-2-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/peaceworkafrica.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/photo-2-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/peaceworkafrica.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/photo-2-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/peaceworkafrica.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/photo-2-219x146.jpg 219w, https:\/\/peaceworkafrica.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/photo-2-50x33.jpg 50w, https:\/\/peaceworkafrica.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/photo-2-112x75.jpg 112w, https:\/\/peaceworkafrica.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/photo-2.jpg 1210w\" sizes=\"(max-width:767px) 382px, 382px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The community has been made aware of the need to respect barrier measures in order to protect themselves and prevent the spread of the disease. This sensitization was done through radio broadcasts and spots, social networks and through posters. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Plus de quinze spots \u00e9ducatifs audiovisuels \u00e9taient pr\u00e9par\u00e9s et diffus\u00e9s dans diff\u00e9rentes langues locales \u00e0 travers les cha\u00eenes radios et t\u00e9l\u00e9visions locales, les r\u00e9seaux sociaux et sur la chaine YouTube de la CBCA (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCrNMxJXCtkJkjLrgirWxpyg\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCrNMxJXCtkJkjLrgirWxpyg<\/a>).<br> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le message principal de la campagne \u00e9tait <strong><em>\u00ab Prot\u00e9gez-vous, prot\u00e9gez les autres \u00bb<\/em><\/strong> traduit en swahili : <strong><em>\u00ab jikinge, wakinge wengine \u00bb<\/em><\/strong>. Ce message a atteint plusieurs milliers d\u2019auditeurs, t\u00e9l\u00e9spectateurs et plusieurs internautes dont l&rsquo;id\u00e9e principale est qu&rsquo;en vous prot\u00e9geant, vous prot\u00e9gez en m\u00eame temps vos voisins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>La distribution des mat\u00e9riels de protection<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">More\n8,000 locally made mufflers were distributed to the population\ntargeted, including motorbike and bus taxi drivers, police officers, who are\nmuch more exposed. Local initiatives have been encouraged for the\nlocal manufacture of mufflers. The various beneficiaries received\nalso more than 800 liquid soaps, 1500 soaps and 500 bottles of disinfectants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>L\u2019approvisionnement\nen eau potable et vivres en faveur de d\u00e9munis<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The supply of drinking water to the population of\nsurrounding parts of the city of Goma which lives in shortage of drinking water.\nThis approach made it possible to reach the indigenous population (indigenous) in\nKanyaruchinya (in the territory of Nyiragongo, north of the city of Goma),\nand pygmies living in the village of Muja (in the same territory). Two\n3000 liter water tanks were purchased and installed and 120,000 liter\nof water were given.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Food has been specially distributed to people\nelderly and widows. Given the high need compared to the planned budget\nCBCA for these assistance activities, 67 households each received 20 kg\nof rice in Goma in North Kivu. Similar support was provided to residents of\nKinshasa, Lubumbashi and Kampala (Uganda).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a reminder, this is\nsince March 11, 2020 that the World Health Organization (WHO) declared that a\noutbreak of coronavirus viral disease, or COVID-19, identified for the\nfirst time in December 2019 in Wuhan, China had reached pandemic level\nworld.
