Transforming and Empowering at-risk Youth through Life Skills Program

Fifty disadvantaged or at-risk youths commonly referred to as ‘Zogos’ recently graduated under an empowerment program by the Lutheran Church in Liberia, Trauma Healing and Reconciliation program in various life skills program.

The Trauma Healing and Reconciliation Program of the Lutheran Church in Liberia is a partner of the Civil Peace Service, CPS Bread for the World – BftW Partners working with marginalized groups to reduce fragmentation in society and to ensure that natural resources are utilized for the benefits of the general public.

The disadvantaged youths named and styled: “The Chosen Generation” or transformed young men and women are former drug users from various communities in Montserrado County, especially the Duport Road Community.

Speaking at the ceremony marking the first graduation exercise of the beneficiaries, Lutheran Bishop Rt. Rev. Dr. G. Victor Padmore thanked the graduates and expressed joy on their transition to a new and productive life. He cautioned the graduates never to return to such unpleasant acts that have the tendency to undermine their future and society.

The first graduation exercise of the at-risk youths, their transformation, detoxification and livelihood empowerment is a demonstration of the Lutheran Church’s commitment to rehabilitate drugs affected young people and urgently fast-track their return to society as productive citizens according to LCL-THRP Director Rev. F. Philip L. Nushann.
