Forum theater, a method of raising awareness of peace education:

DESUFOP-EEC shares its experience with the SAARE TABITHA training center

It’s As part of sharing experience between the SCP partner organizations Pain for Worl, DESUFOP-EEC held a meeting on Friday, October 11, 2024, with the learners and teachers of the SAARE TABITHA in Maroua.

Objective being to share with learners, how to use the “theater-forum” tool as a technique for raising awareness on peace education. Mr. FANDIO Makarios from DESUFOP-EEC brought together learners and teachers for a capacity building session for conflict prevention through real-life experiences.

The highlighting of a conflict scene in class presented a situation where a learner was frustrated and humiliated by her teacher. This learner will rebel against the latter and will be punished. In the end, the lesson to be learned was about the usefulness of conflict prevention in the classroom. In addition, they now understand the importance of identifying the needs of each other in their environment, which constitutes a step towards better social cohesion.

From the forum theater, the beneficiaries of the teaching learned some lessons, in particular:

– The learner. (e) must obey;

– In the event of a fault, you must first think about the peaceful solution instead of thinking directly about punishment;

– Disobedience is useless;

– Do not be impulsive, try to understand why the learner refuses to carry out a task;

– Encourage the learner to have finesse in their work without humiliating or frustrating them in front of their peers;

– If there is a problem, do not reprimand the learner in public.

It was on a note of satisfaction that the exchange ended.
