Civil Peace Service Liberia Network has expressed deep concern over the persistent cases of sexual abuse against children in Liberia, which continue to threaten the safety, dignity, and fundamental rights of children across the country.
In a statement issued in Monrovia on January 10, 2026, CPS noted that the Network is disturbed by the recent allegation of sodomy involving a minor and a staff member of the National Security Agency of Liberia.
The Civil Peace Service joins Human Rights Advocates and the Ministry of Gender in strongly condemning this alleged act and is calling for a thorough, transparent, and impartial investigation. Where the allegations are substantiated, we urge that the law be allowed to take its full course without interference, the statement said.
The Network respectfully appeals to the public and the media to refrain from sharing photographs, names, or any other identifying information related to this case. Protecting the privacy, safety, and dignity of the child involved must remain paramount.
The statement further urges the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection–Liberia to strengthen collaboration with content creators and social media influencers. Such engagement is crucial for promoting responsible communication, safeguarding confidentiality, establishing clear referral pathways, and upholding child protection standards in both traditional and digital environments.
The statement concluded Civil Peace Service reaffirms its unwavering commitment to protecting children, supporting survivors, and working collectively with stakeholders to end all forms of sexual abuse through accountability, justice, and prevention.
In the first quarter of 2025, the Ministry of Gender and Social Protection in Liberia reported alarming levels of violence, particularly against women and children, documenting 1,735 rape cases, alongside 824 cases of physical assault and 339 cases of domestic violence. Women accounted for the vast majority of victims across these cases. The report also highlighted the violation of children’s fundamental rights to life, dignity, and protection.
