CPS  Partners and International Day of Peace: Working to Build a More Inclusive Peace in Liberia

In celebration of International Day of Peace, The Civil Peace Service, Bread for the World Partners and Agiamondo held several activities surrounding the International Day of Peace, IDP.

A Press statement was released in Monrovia on September 22, 2022 calling for peace and no to tribal and political discrimination.

Under a series of activities, CPS partners also held a Dinner and Panel Discussion on September 22nd in Monrovia at the Lutheran Church Compound with all CPS Bread for the World partners in attendance.

The panel discussion saw a number panellists discussing issues of Interfaith and sustainable peace in Liberia, and the importance of the CPS network in promoting this effort; the Church and sustainable peace in Liberia, and the importance of the CPS network in promoting the Church and sustainable peace.

There was also a discussion on, Tribal and Political Discrimination in Liberia, and the Importance of the CPS Network in Preventing this Condition; The Conduct of a Peaceful Election in Liberia, and the Importance of the CPS Network in this Effort;  The National Road Map to sustainable Peace in Liberia, and the Importance of the CPS Network in Promoting this Effort and Tribal and Political Discrimination in Liberia, and the Importance of the CPS Network in Preventing this condition.

There were also several activities in other parts of CPS program areas in Liberia, with a peace parade and panel discussions in Kakata, Margibi County. In Gbarnga, Bong County, a parade was held and panel discussion on ways to promote understanding for shared humanity.

Other activities were a symposium on How to Mitigate Hate Speech and Violence with the central theme:  “No Tribal and Political Discrimination, Yes to Peace,” and a training for 25 media practitioners from 18 media institutions.

These activities were held by the Civil Peace Service, Bread for the World and Agiamondo in celebration of the International Day of Peace. The Civil Peace Service (CPS) is a German funded program aimed at preventing violence and promoting peace in crisis zones and conflict regions. CPS professionals in more than 40 countries lend support to people in their commitment for dialogue, human rights, and peace on a long-term basis.

In September of every year, countries of the world, celebrate The International Day of Peace. The day was established by a UN General Assembly Resolution to strengthen the idea of peace among all countries and peoples of the world.
