Despite covid19, the annual SCP/DRC workshop will take place, this time online.

“Covid19, us, our work and our relationships in society. is the theme around the exchanges of this online workshop. A first experience for the civil service network for the peace, SCP/DRC.

The workshop will take place online due to the difficulty for members of the network to meet physically in this period of covid19. Indeed, the first case of covid19 contamination was notified on March 10, 2020 in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to a Congolese national who returned from France on March 8, his country of residence.

The state of emergency was announced on March 18 after an upsurge in confirmed coronavirus cases. The emergency measures were, among other things, the banning of internal and international flights, the confinement of the provinces and people in their homes…

The measure was lifted on July 21 after the country saw a drop in the number of new reported cases.

In these conditions it was difficult, if not impossible, to organize this workshop physically as usual. The virtual it’s imposed.

For this year the workshop will take 2 days. It will start on Thursday September 03 and will end on September 04 2020.

It will be about understanding: Covid as we have experienced it and we are experiencing it (positive and negative) on the personal, professional and social levels: states of emergency, containment, deconfinement, Communication around Covid 19: Government, response team

Sub themes are also:

  1. Covid response and human rights
  2. How can we strengthen our resilience to continue living and working?
  3. Our challenges, our strategies: how to continue to protect ourselves and work without falling into political speeches.

The participants will connect from different provinces of the DRC through the video conferencing software “Jitsi”.
